Websites and Google Business Profiles for UK trades
It's 9pm. Someone's got a leak.
- 21:04Water's coming through the kitchen ceiling. They grab their phone and type "plumber near me".
- 21:05They scroll. One firm has a proper page with what they do, where they cover, and a way to get in touch. Another just has a Facebook page. Its last post was a photo of a van.
- 21:06They message the first one.
You might be the better plumber. They'll never know.
On the quote call
"Have you got a website I can look at?"
You've heard it. You say "I'm on Facebook" and there's a little pause.
It's not that you need one to do good work. It's that people want to check you're real before they let you in the house. Fair enough, really.
Things you'd rather do than build a website
- Literally any job
- Fill in a tax return
- Build a website
Try it
What does a customer see when they look for you?
Pop in your trade and town. We'll sketch what a search might turn up. It's a mock-up, not a real search, and nothing you type leaves your phone.
Drawing 02: before and after
Same tradesperson. Different first impression.
Made-up example. "Example Plastering" isn't a real business.
Before Example
Facebook page · 3 posts
Posted a long time ago
- No list of services
- No idea which towns they cover
- Not on Google Maps
After Example
Covering [your town] and nearby.
Ask for a quote
- A simple site that works on a phone
- A Google profile so you show on Maps
- Your Facebook page still there, if you like it
Drawing 03: the job
How it works. Three steps, no homework.
01
A chat
You tell us what you do and where. On your lunch, in the van. Whatever suits.
02
We write it
Every word. You don't have to describe yourself as "passionate". We'll keep it honest.
03
You check it
Change what's wrong. Then it goes live on your own web address.
Real examples of our work: coming soon. We'd rather show you real ones than make some up.

Fair questions
I'm on Facebook. Isn't that enough?
For people who already know you, maybe. For a stranger searching at 9pm, a site and a Google profile are easier to find and easier to trust. Keep the Facebook page too.
Do I have to write anything?
No. You answer some questions, we write it, you correct us.
Is this one of those £9.99-a-month-forever deals?
No. Launch is a one-off price. Care is optional, and it's there so you don't have to deal with hosting and updates.
What's a Google Business Profile?
The free listing that puts you on Google Maps with your services, hours and reviews. We set it up or sort out the one you've got.
Will you keep ringing me?
No. You get in touch, we reply. That's it.
